I think my highlight was getting to really connect with the Haitian people everywhere we went.
When we went to the school in what is know as "Little Africa" I sat in the little school benches with all the other kids and helped them color. When we went to the orphanage we all squeezed in on one bench and made bracelets. At the work site, the neighborhood kids and I played, talked, and giggled.
I even bonded with the family whose house we were staying at. They had three seventeen year old girls that I stayed up with me at night to watch TV with them. I can even talk to them today through Facebook! This makes it seem like we're not so far away.
This trip to Haiti made me feel more like family with the Haitians and has helped the people there become really close to my heart. - Marisa
