Reflections: April 2012 Kids Against Hunger

Kids Against Hunger Event

The opportunity most people have to actually make something in our church, or even our community, or city, county, state or even in America, and have that very item actually hand-delivered to a family in need overseas; well, it just does not come along as often as one might think or desire. Kids Against Hunger, a non-profit organization here in the Quad Cities, made that a reality for some of our Christ Church small group members in April of 2012. Often for me, simply lining up a service opportunity for others of the church and atching the faithfulness of God's people follow through to accomplish the ministry is joy in itself. This was my first experience with Kids Against Hunger, or KAH, and wow, what a joyful time from start to finish.

All during the event there were smiles, laughter, teamwork, encouraging words, and all around fun! Add to this the significant difference these servants made in the hundreds of lives overseas who might not have a healthy meal otherwise... this Revive the World ministry, part of our church discipleship process, was overwhelmingly satisfying. So much so, many asked how soon we would partner with KAH again!

This is why I believe the next best thing to Experiencing God's Love in a worship service together, or Developing Relationships in a small group is to Revive the World together as a group. Serving with a friend or a small group of people will at least double or multiply the joy of the personal experience, the power behind the effort, and the ministry's effectiveness. God's Word says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor... ...A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:9 & 12)
