When a servant in our nursery, Little Ones’ Landing, called in sick a few weeks ago, I jumped in to help out. Of the children, the little boy did not like me very much. He was more interested in the toys. On the other hand, the little girl in there cried and cried.
Then the coolest thing happened. I picked her up and held her close and just started talking to her like I talked to my own children when they were her age. She just settled in as I started rocking in the chair and conversing with the other servant. The next thing I knew she was sound asleep.
I wanted so much to be that age again, that content. I longed for the future, when I will climb into my Heavenly Father’s arms and rest gently. I don’t get to serve in Little One’s Landing that often, so I asked one of our regular servants, Kelly Bruce, why she is so faithful.
Kelly said, “My girls and I really enjoy helping out in Little Ones’ Landing. We are taking care of the children that grace us with their smiles and fun loving attitudes. Yeah, sometimes we get kids that cry but that is okay. New little ones take a while to get comfortable with us; however, after a short while they get down and play or just sit and watch. It is a great experience that my daughters and I really enjoy together. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of taking care of your children while parents worship the Lord.”
Maybe you are looking for a place to serve once-a-month. You ought to try loving a little one!
