Parish Nurse

by Mary German, Volunteer Parish Nurse

My name is Mary German. I will be serving as a volunteer Parish Nurse at Christ Church.

My husband Tom and I reside in Bettendorf and have been members of Christ Church since 2011. We have six grown children and six beautiful grandchilren that capture our hearts. We have two daughters and their families that live in Ohio, a daughter and her family in Des Moines, a daughter in Indianola, a son and his family in Marengo, Iowa (our son is the pastor of the United Methodist church in Marengo), and our youngest son lives with us and is attending Scott Community college.

Since graduating from Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing thirty plus years ago, I have gained experience in various specialties in the hospital setting: pediatrics, obstetrics, rehab and surgical services.
I worked fifteen years as a labor and delivery nurse as well as office/clinic nursing in obstetrics and Women’s Health. I am currently employed in the outpatient surgery department at Unity Point in Moline.

I completed specialized training as a Parish Nurse in 2005 and served a small Methodist church for six years. I enjoyed caring for the parishioners in a holistic way, including body, mind and spirit. I hope to be an asset to the Lifeboat Committee at Christ Church, serving as an advocate and resource to the members of this church. I look forward to meeting and serving our church community.
