This past winter, Pastor James, Lisa Rogers and I gathered to talk about the Lent Bible study and what that would look like. James had pitched an in-depth study of the book of John and we were off and running. In our typical process, which is soaked in prayer, we pick 4-5 days worth of scriptures (including the sermon scripture for that week), and write questions individually. Then, we get together as a group, open in prayer, and review each question written and let the Spirit work. As we worked on this study, we prayed we could do this Gospel justice and that God would work in us to form the study in a way that would honor him.
We also looked at making more room for new people in our small group ministry. Through prayer, and a couple of Sunday sermons that were convicting, several new groups either have been, or will be, forming for this study. We have two group leaders who are trained and ready to start groups if you’re ready to get in on the ground floor with people just like you. One of these will be a 12-step style group on Wednesday nights.
We also had two additional groups form for this study, that both meet on Sunday (one from 3-5 pm, the other at 5pm with childcare). Because of these new leaders, there is room for you in a new group or within several of the existing groups.
If you are interested in learning more about small groups or just dipping your toes in the water, I can help you find a group that will meet your needs.
You can reach me at the church: 563.391.5488 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope you will join one of our groups, we’re just groups of imperfect people trying to figure it all out together.
