One EGG-stra Special Event

Bunnies, eggs, and candy galore, this year’s Community Easter Egg Hunt brought many families out to enjoy a morning of fun prior to Easter weekend. On March 28, 23 volunteers and around 46 families gathered at Christ Church for a family-friendly event featuring more than just a big egg hunt. Kids could travel to a variety of different stations including two different crafts, egg dyeing, face painting, cookie decorating, storybook reading, bingo, relay races, games, and pictures with the Easter bunny. Needless to say, kids stayed busy as different groups headed out to the side yard to hunt eggs. Thanks to the support of the congregation, we were able to hide 2,700 eggs out for the children to find. There was certainly no shortage of chocolate!

I cannot say “thank-you” enough for all of the help and support that everyone provided in making this fun event possible. From sorting and filling eggs, to donating juice and cookie dough, to showing up early Saturday morning to serve, it was definitely a team effort! Through this event we were able to reach many children and families both within and outside of our congregation. We provided a safe environment for them to have fun in and were able to hand out many informational packets about our church along the way. I’d say that’s pretty egg-straordinary!

Christ Church is my Family

Charla Gordon // Parishioner // DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS

Sharing my thoughts about Christ Church is like sharing about my personal family.  But, when I think about it, Christ Church is really part of my family. Where do I start?

My husband, Cliff, our two sons, and I first came to Christ Church in 1983, a short time after we had moved to Davenport from Colorado. I had been praying for God to lead us to the right church and God faithfully did that. Christ Church was the friendliest of the churches we visited and it was that friendliness and guidance from God that brought us to here. We joined in the spring of 1984, so I now celebrate 30 years as a member!

Christ Church has been a good place for me to grow in my relationship with Jesus, who makes all the difference in my life. I am reminded of the line from the song “Amazing Grace”:  “Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come...” It is the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ who holds  on to me and brings me through each trial I have faced. One of the main ways God has strengthened and comforted me in my trials is through my family, the Christ Church congregation, specifically the members of my Christ Church small group. They are Jesus with “skin on”!  And they are truly a part of my family. I praise and thank God for leading me to Christ Church!
